- Sam Arneson Home (LA real estate agent for cool homes) At LAKA, I often turn to architecture and design to get re-inspired with work. I discovered LA-based real estate agent Sam Arneson on IG and am hooked on his eye. I don't live in LA, but his eye is aligned with the LAKA vibe and he even offers real estate coaching which is super cool. Have a look, get inspired, remind yourself that space is everything and minimal is always in.

- Breaking down the mucoid plaque lining of your gut: I always get rabbit-holed into corners of health and dive head first. Both feet in on this one. Several years ago, I researched heavily parasite cleansing and quite possibly went overboard. (So gross, yet so satisfying having these things leave your body!) Breaking down biofilms (mucoid plaque of digestive tract) is just about up there as equally fascinating. Basically, as we add more toxins to the body, we add more plaque that hinders not only digestion but organ function and mood plus a whole host of other things. - Unprotected sun exposure, limiting sun exposure: I always stir pots of heated topics on my personal IG and unprotected sun exposure was one of them this month. I would stir these pots on LAKA IG but our old account got shadow banned for this very thing so I gotta halt the pot stirring. My question was regarding the viscerally felt hoax of (most) sunscreens and how there are many other ways to safely prevent skin cancer, sun-induced skin conditions, while still getting essential Vitamin D. More on this to come, I will be putting together a guide. But for now, I want to encourage you to ponder your relation to sunscreen.
- Lazy Composting (everyones gotta eat!) Ok, so sometimes we're just not going to compost. BUT, given you don't live somewhere where bears are a problem, an apartment complex, or you generally don't want to attract animals to your property, let me propose to you the way our family lazy composts. Take your daily food scraps and throw them out into the yard or find a good place in the woods behind your house to just dump the food. Yes, composting properly is a gift that keeps on giving, but we're also trying to avoid food scraps from being thrown away and fermenting in landfills when they could be used by soil or eaten by wild animals! So, consider our family's "everyones gotta eat" compost method. We dump scraps behind our house each night and the pigs, birds, chickens pick through and get some food. (Im sure there will be backlash on this one)
- A petition for blowing Big Fungi cover : K so this is soooooo important! Are your favorite brands using real mushrooms? Or some mushroom but mostly mycelium? Basically, the mushroom is the top part of the entire organism that contains what we want: Beta Glucans. The mushroom and the mycelium have different active compounds in them and IMO are not created equal. Big Fungi is real. This petition aims to simply ask companies to disclose what part of the organism they are using.

- Spring Water : Ok, I only invest in absolutely essential items. Not only are the prices of everything skyrocketing, but the market is saturated beyond belief and its hard to find the best of the best. Im hopeful theres a lot of good out there, but when it comes to water it's hard to know. We've always collected raw spring water but invested in a Kangen machine during COVID to see if the hype was real. Digestion was amazing, felt extremely hydrated, but I recently heard someone explain how the process of Kangen traumatizes the water preventing the natural structure to be, lets say, authentic. Water has memory and is either stable by design or forced to be stable. Long story short, we got rid of our Kangen machine and are back to raw spring water! Even if you can't afford to use 100% spring water, 5 gallons a week per household is better than nothing.
- The Sclpt Co Bands : The Sclpt Co is founded by two Kauai athletes, Kandace and Malia and has a whole range of workout accessories that help activate your movement practice. I cant wait to use their bands in our upcoming event at Black Coral Yoga on July 22 in Hanalei. I'll be teaching a Hot Fusion class using the bands to really help direct the fluid in the body and help target that rear.
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Cars: Before we left island for a bit last year, I sold my truck and kept my other car here which essentially blew up a few days after my return back to island. To Craigslist I went to shop for my dream beater: A 1999 4x4 red Chevy Tracker Convertible. It's been so fun to give this car more life and drive around with my kids pretending like we are in Barbie the movie with the top down. It got me thinking how good it feels to use up something to the very last drop. Even a car. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
